The County Juvenile “B” & Novice “B” Cross Country Championships took place at Lisheen Mine Road, Moyne on Sunday 18th November. Congratulations to Clodagh Fallon (2nd Girls U/12), Siobhan Carroll (4th Girls U/12) Eimear Ryan (3rd Girls U/14) & Kyle Shelly (5th Boys U/12) who all won individual medals.
Our Girls U/12 team of Clodagh Fallon, Siobhan Carroll, Lucy Dillon (13th) & Emma Shelly (16th) won a Silver medal while our Boys U/14 team of Bill Maher (8th), Aidan Scott (12th) & Bill O’Keefe (13th) won Gold. In the Boys U/10 race, the Club placed 5th with James Hayden in 19th place, Luke Ryan in 20th, Ronan O’Dwyer in 21st & Darragh O’Dwyer in 29th place. In the Girls U/10 race, the Club finished 11th in the team competition with Ellen Maher finishing in 30th, Lucy O’Keefe in 31st & Alisha Carroll in 42nd place. In the Boys U/12 race Niall Maher ran very well while in the Girls U/14 race, Sarah Hayden was just outside the medals in 4th place. Well done to all our athletes on such great performances.
Good luck to Daniel Ryan who will be part of the Irish Junior Boys team who will take part in the AVIVA Schools International Combined Events Championships in the Emirates Arena, Glasglow on Saturday 1st December. Daniel will be representing his school, Thurles CBS & Ireland on the day & will compete in the 60m Hurdles, 200m, 800m, Long Jump & Shot Putt. Other members of the Irish Junior Boys team are Jack Murphy (CBC, Cork), Matthew Dalton (Belfast High School) & Aidan Conneely (Calasanctius, Oranmore). Results will be posted on the AAI website on Saturday night & you may be able to keep track of him during the competition on the Irish Schools Facebook page at www.facebook.com/IrishSchoolsAthletics.
Both Jack Fallon & Ben O’Dwyer will be taking part in the Boys U/13 race at the Woodie’s DIY AAI Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships in Adamstown, Co. Wexford on Sunday 9th December. Jack & Ben will be part of the Tipperary team for the National Inter-County competition & Jack will also be part of the Munster team & we wish them the very best of luck.
There are a number of Christmas Party dates coming up in the month of December as follows:-
Whist Night in Pouldine School Hall on Tuesday 4th December. This annual event is a great fundraiser for the Club & if anyone can get spot prizes from local businesses, it would be greatly appreciated. All donations are also gratefully accepted. Tea, sandwiches & confectionary are served on the night so any help with making these & serving them would be appreciated.
Christmas Party & Annual Awards Presentation for Juvenile athletes & their families on Friday 7th December from 8pm to 10pm in Pouldine School Hall. The night starts with the awards presentation followed by refreshments & a disco. Donations of sandwiches & confectionary would be greatly appreciated. Awards given out on the night will be divided into 2 Categories, Track & Field & Cross Country with each category having the following awards:- Best Male Athlete, Best Female Athlete, Most Improved Female, Most Improved Male, Most Dedicated Female & Most Dedicated Male. This year for the first time, there will be an overall award for the Best Club Athlete of the year. This award, the Paddy Coman/Jimmy Fogarty Shield, will go to the athlete who has achieved outstanding results in 2012. Our thanks to Paddy & Jimmy for sponsoring this award & for their continued support & interest in the Club.
The Club is holding a Colouring Competition for Juvenile athletes & their families. Simply colour in the picture appropriate to your age on our website at www.moycarkeycoolcrooac.com & bring along to the Club Christmas Party on Friday 7th December where judging will take place. Please put your name & age on the back of your sheet. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the 2 categories below:- Colouring Page for Older Ages (Age 9 upwards) Colouring Page for Younger Ages (Up to & including 8 years)
Christmas Get-Together for Senior Club members & parents in Bannon’s Lounge on Friday 21st December.
Cross Country Training will be held every Tuesday & Thursday evenings in the Middlepiece, Two Mile Borris, from 7pm to 8pm. All athletes should bring their own drinking water & wear old clothing & footwear. New athletes & help are always welcome.
Sun 2nd – Munster Juvenile “B” & Masters Cross Country Championships in Newmarket On Fergus, Co. Clare at 12 noon. Good luck to all our athletes who will be taking part.
Wed 5th – County Tipperary Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships at 11am in Thurles Crokes Complex.
Sun 9th – National Juvenile Uneven Age & Novice Cross Country Championships in Adamstown, Co. Wexford.
Sun 16th – County Senior & Junior Cross County Championships at 11am in Goold’s Cross.
Sat 12th – County U/13 to Junior Indoor Championships in Nenagh Indoor Stadium.
Sun 13th – Munster Juvenile Relays, Junior & Senior Cross Country Championships in Limerick Racecourse.
