Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April: Cavanagh Cup, Golfer of the Year; 1st Colin O’Brien (18) 69; 2nd Cian Heffernan (3) 70; 3rd John Quigley (10) 71; gross Michael Corrigan 80; senior, Eamonn Byrne (21) 72; 4th Eddie Scanlan (14) 72 (back 6); 5th Seamus Madden (14) 72 (back 9); student Alex Jones (8) 81.

CSS: Saturday 73; Sunday 74.

The cold north east wind continued blowing across the course for the playing of the Golfer of the Year Cavanagh Cup stroke competition. As a result low scores were hard to get. Playing on Saturday Colin O’Brien made the best of the easier of the two days to shoot a 69 and take the honours by one shot from Cian Heffernan also playing on Saturday. John Quigley’s 71 off a handicap of 10 on Sunday was remarkable given the difficult cross wind conditions on that day with his double bogey on the last into the wind proving costly. 72 was a popular score with Eamonn Byrne taking the senior’s prize and Eddie Scanlan and Seamus Madden also on that number for 4th and 5th prizes respectively. Alex Jones was the best of the students.
