Spectacular Tipp success at Fleadh

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has warmly congratulated all those who competed and took part in this year’s All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil 2016 which took place in Ennis County Clare. Deputy McGrath specifically acknowledged the outstanding success of the Caislean Nua Comhaltas Branch and the Newcastle dancers as well as the triumphs of the Cashel Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann branch:

“The standard of excellence and skill that has been set by our very own Tipperary dancers and musicians is genuinely inspiring.

The wins have confirmed that we have young traditional dancers and musicians that can compete with the very best at either national or international levels.

I want to particularly commend Caislean Nua Comhaltas Branch and the Newcastle dancers who came home to Tipperary from the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil with an impressive, 10 Sets of All-Ireland Medals which included six First Place Titles, three Second Place Titles and one Third place title.

From Cahir CCE I want to acknowledge the outstanding performances of Evin O Regan and Richie Delahunty who won Mandolin u12 and Miscellanious u12 and Mandolin. O18 and Miscellanious O18 respectively.

The dedication exhibited in Ennis to these rich aspects of our Irish culture is incredible as is the dedication of committed and talented teachers like Kathy McGrath who worked tirelessly to lead the Caislean Nua Comhaltas Branch and the Newcastle dancers to their great success.

Deputy McGrath concluded by thanking the organisers, parents and the local Ennis community for hosting what was a remarkable Fleadh Cheoil for all those who took part or came to enjoy the festival.
