Nenagh's Daniel is Bord Bia's man in Dubai

Daniel McMahon from Nenagh is currently undertaking the Bord Bia Marketing Fellowship programme working as an Irish food ambassador in Dubai.

In the United Arab Emirates, Daniel is working on business developments projects for a number of Irish food and drink companies. This includes research into new markets and developing new opportunities for both large-scale international Irish companies and smaller Irish countries with ambition.

With recruitment underway for 20 ambitious individuals to take part in the next phase of the Bord Bia Marketing Fellowship programme which is run in association with the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Daniel would encourage graduates with a minimum of two years work experience to consider applying.

Daniel graduated with a degree in Microbiology before working for a number of years in the beef, pork and dairy Industries in technical roles, from graduate to management level. So far for Daniel, the highlights of the programme have been being in constant contact with significant decision makers in large companies, being trusted to make key decisions for the future of their business and representing Bord Bia at a key trade show which covers the Middle East.

Daniel would encourage anyone looking for a change in career to apply for the programme, which he says provides “a path or a way of progressing your own career in the food business while growing knowledge and employability in the sector at executive level and beyond while gaining a great qualification in a fantastic city somewhere in the world. A once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Applications are now open for the MSc International Marketing Practice, an intensive 12-month action learning programme. Those applying should be graduates with a minimum of 2-3 years work experience and in interest in business development and sales. Some placements will require fluency in a second language.
