Companies across Munster are invited to enter the 2012 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards , an awards scheme that not only provides opportunities for companies to generate publicity but a programme that provides all entrants with networking opportunities and business development events.
Ulster Bank has also added new categories to this year’s awards to celebrate the growing diversity and strength of the Irish Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector, a Woman Led Business category and a division into two separate categories of Agri-Business and Food & Drink.
Speaking at the Munster launch of the 2012 awards, Tom Leahy, Regional Director, Business Banking, Ulster Bank said: “The SME sector throughout Munster is a dynamic and vibrant place and every day I see successes and positive stories that emanate from it. We want to support these businesses and tell their stories to a national audience. This year we have enhanced the programme with a new ‘Business Achievers Roadshow’ where companies benefit from workshops, seminars, and networking and we are extending out Public Relations support to companies who may not make the National Final in May.”
Ray O’Driscoll, Barry Group who won the Munster Award for Service Business in 2010 said: “Participating in the Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards has helped to raise the profile of Barry Group. To receive an award from a brand like Ulster Bank gives our customers confidence in our business. The publicity and networking opportunites afforded by the Awards programme was a boost to Barry Group and I would encourage other companies to enter this year.”
Each entry will be closely examined by a judging panel. The judging panel will shortlist companies for the Provincial Awards and the Provincial winners will be announced at award ceremonies in April 2013. Provincial Award winners will then go on to compete in their respective categories at an all-island gala event in May 2013, where one category winner will also be crowned overall ‘Ulster Bank Business Achiever 2012’.
The 2012 Ulster Bank Business Achiever will receive a comprehensive prize package including a €50,000 publishing bursary with the Irish Independent, business mentoring from Enterprise Ireland, a full service communications workshop, as well as much positive national and regional PR coverage.
Over the years a number of high-profile Munster companies have passed through the competition including; Glenilen Farm, Clonakilty Blackpudding and ePub Direct. Last year’s overall winner was Down-based medical devices company, TG Eakin.
