The future looks bright as Roscrea Credit union develops to meet the needs of its members, says Manager Brian King.
The Credit Union welcomed 171
members in the past year and continues to grow. “This is a special time for Roscrea Credit Union as we too celebrate our involvement in the local community and thank our 14,000 members for their support over the past 47 years. To celebrate St Patrick’s Day 2014 Roscrea Credit Union will host a member’s morning on Friday the 14th of March from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Throughout the morning refreshments will be served and a number of spot prizes will be on offer. Roscrea Credit Union has been serving the people of Roscrea and its neighbouring parishes and villages for the past 47 years, providing affordable and accessible financial services to its members. Now with approximately 14,000 members, a number which is increasing each year, we are continuing to give back to our local community.
In 2013 we provided a little over €1,200,000 in modest loans to our growing membership. These are small modest loans for things like education, back to school, communions, Christmas, a new car - the simple things in life. In 2014 we hope to be able to do the same for our members as we continue to try and meet the growing needs of our members. Over the past number of years we have continued to invest in the local community despite the economic woes. We currently support many local clubs and organisations as well as local schools and local projects. Over the next few weeks we will announce the launch of ‘Roscrea Through The Ages Website’ to complement the existing and very popular Facebook Page of the same name. The Credit Union is also involved in the sponsorship of what promises to be a very exciting walking/cycling festival which will take place in June and plans are already progressing with regards the Credit Union helping stage what will be a very important World War I commemoration in September of this year. In addition to all this the Credit Union will once again this year be one of the main sponsors of the Roscrea
St Patrick’s Day Parade and the Credit Union is also looking forward to working once again in 2014 with the local Tidy Towns Committee on a project that will enhance the overall appearance of the town. We want to remind people that your Credit Union is there to help you as it has been through the years,” concluded Mr King.
