A US-based entrepreneur, who originally hails from Roscrea, is preparing to take part in an exclusive corporate retreat where he will engage with some of the world’s premier business leaders.

Peter Milner, the Co-Founder of Optivia Biotechnology based in California in the United States will be part of a 120-strong group of entrepreneurs – one of the largest corporate groups to leave Ireland on such a trip - attending the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year CEO Retreat, taking place this year from 20th to the 26th of June in the dynamic and vibrant surroundings of Silicon Valley, California.

Optivia Biotechnology is one of 24 finalist businesses that have made it to the competitive final stages of this year’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Awards Programme, and the 2012 CEO Retreat will be the keystone in this year’s calendar of events.

Each year, the week-long trip, which forms an integral part of this high–profile global recognition programme, challenges finalists to be at the cutting-edge of innovation and empowers them to learn from the successes of their worldwide - and Irish – counterparts.

In addition to this year’s finalists, participants on the intensive retreat will include members of the Entrepreneur Of The Year® Programme’s extended entrepreneurial community who will once again be given the chance to further enhance and develop their entrepreneurial skills, increase their business network, share commercial experiences with local entrepreneurs, and develop lifelong peer relationships.

The comprehensive itinerary will include industry sessions with executives from blue-chip corporates such as Facebook; insights from prolific investors from Blackstone and Kleiner Perkins; master classes with world-renowned professors from Stanford and Berkley Universities; a tour of the Plug and Play Tech’ Centre’s Sunnyvale Campus; an engagement at the Silicon Valley Bank; and seminars with some of Silicon Valley’s leading Irish entrepreneurs, amongst much more.

Frank O’Keeffe, Ernst & Young Partner-in-charge of the Entrepreneur Of The Year® Programme re-enforced the value of the CEO Retreat to Ireland’s business leaders.

“As we embark upon the week ahead, we are really looking forward to joining with Peter and his fellow finalists as they embark upon an unparalleled journey of personal and professional discovery.”

He continued: “By witnessing first-hand the entrepreneurial culture that exists within global behemoths such as Google and Facebook, and gleaning exclusive insights from Valley investors, it is our hope that participants will embrace the vast and unlimited possibilities that will be encountered during our visit to this iconic location.”
