Tipp’s exit from all bar the Intermediate has facilitated prompt progress in the county championship. We heartily wish it was otherwise, but September 8th will be a repeat of the Clare v Cork Munster semi-final with the Banner bent on reversing the provincial outcome. On Sunday’s form against a deeply disappointing Limerick they could achieve it, too. A pair of losers in the All-Ireland may sound incongruous but the system allows it. Limerick suffered double defeat at Croke Park in curious circumstances as far as the minors were concerned with Specsavers’ device misinterpreting its graphic “miss” being the relevant word for its verdict on a definite score.
