A meeting was held on Friday 13th April at the Clonmel Museum of the Tipperary Economic Planning & Development Group, Sean Laffey President of the Cashel Chamber of Commerce, was there to represent the interests of Cashel business.

The Economic Planning and Development Group are looking towards a whole county strategy for enterprise. The group is concerned with five broad areas: Retail, Tourism Enterprise Development, Economic Development support structures and Marketing & Promotion of the County.

One outcome from the group is a system of Town Centre Forums, which we hope will be set up in the next quarter. Each Forum will be a joint initiative between the local council and business groups who will work together to enhance the experience of retail in key urban centres in the county.

Sean Laffey said “This is especially important in tourism and heritage towns. It is essential we have a strong representative group of Cashel retailers on the local forum. The forum has as its terms of reference the need to develop a town Centre Forum to oversee delivery of the Retail Strategy Actions for Cashel and to consider other pertinent economic matters.”
