New School Buildings Approved for Roscrea

CONDITIONAL planning permission has been granted for the Board of Management of Airhill Sacred Heart Primary School to develop a major extension and improvement to its school campus.

In November, North Tipp County Council gave the green light for the Sacred Heart School to demolish, on a phased basis, the existing school and associated prefabricated temporary teaching accommodation units, along with the temporary relocation of existing prefabricated teaching units for use by school during construction period. The plans involve the construction of new-single storey and two-storey school building with 12 Classrooms, 7 Special Education Tuition Rooms, Multi-purpose room, Library/Resource Room, GP Room, associated stores and administrative offices. The plans also entail the construction of on-site bus turning and set down area including car park, two ball courts, play areas and bin storage area; partial demolition of existing boundary wall to ‘New Line’ and construction of a new realigned boundary wall, followed by the widening of the existing site entrance to the south west corner of the site and widening of existing access road along west site boundary. The plans come subject to seven conditions.
