More Volunteers Always Welcome - Tidy Towns

Link roads and back lanes are a must for concentration with regard to lighting, painting, floral displays and cleaning to make them safer and more accessible to all prospective users.

If you have a skill in any of those areas, and have time on your hands contact any member of the Tidy Towns Committee.

The Local Schools are now coming on board with the Tidy towns volunteers and taking on projects of interest in the areas of Biodiversity, tree and shrub planting, development of wildlife areas, sustainability into the future such as orchards, herb and vegetable patches, Educational parks and amenity areas etc., and we look forward to working with and supporting Teachers and students alike on those projects in the New Year. Congratulations must go to the Teacher Mr. David Leahy, and the Students from last year’s Transition year class in Coláiste Phobal who took on a project entitled “Can It”, and had it entered under the “Special Award Category”,in the Tidy Towns Competition, resulting in a National Award for the School and town of Roscrea. This was no mean achievement for a first time entry, With more schools now getting involved, we can look forward to much higher marks in the future, and even greater awards such as bronze, silver and gold medals. It is only by involving the wider community, that Roscrea can achieve this. If you are not involved already we would welcome a phone call, text message, or letter stating your interest in setting up a Resident’s Association, contact Denis Ryan, 0876775382, Eileen Doherty, 0876765860, Mary Conroy, 0863476431, Rose Crofton, 0872102776 or any member for advice and direction.
