Monaincha Night Walk

Pat Flannagan and the young members of Comhaltas about to start their choir session at Monaincha Abbey.

This year’s night Christmas walk to Monaincha Abbey was another great success with nearly one hundred walkers, young and old participating. The walk commenced at Mulrooney’s on the Dublin road and proceeded to the famous Abbey from there.

Conditions were near perfect if a little muddy underfoot but the hardy souls who came to support this free walk didn’t seem to mind. Music this year was provided by Comhaltas and Pat Flannagan with his young group giving the walkers a great taste of Christmas carols. The food this year was again provided by Bernie’s Supervalu and Tesco’s and without their generosity this event simply could not happen. A huge thank you to all who came out to support the event and especially Mairead and Declan Rambsbottom and Sean Breen. Happy new year to everyone and keep an eye on the paper for our summer mid week evening walks.
