Two Lives Lost On Tipperary Roads
Two communities in Tipperary are this week mourning the heartbreaking loss of young motorists following accidents in which a man lost his life at the weekend in Thurles, and a lady died some time after an accident in Cappawhite.
He was taken by ambulance to South Tipperary General Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to Cork University Hospital where he was pronounced dead late on Saturday night. The driver of the second car (also aged 22 years) was taken to Hospital with minor injures and later discharged.
Forensic collisions investigators carried out a full technical examination at the scene and the road remained sealed off for some time afterwards with diversions utilised.
The popular Thurles man was buried on Wednesday in Two-Mile-Borris cemetery following Requiem Mass.
Meanwhile the death of 19 year old Clodagh Cummins, Clonbrick, Ayle, Cappawhite also at Cork University Hospital following an accident occasioned great sadness in the community. Her car collided with a wall close to her home and she remained at the scene for some hours until a passer-by realised what had happened and came to her assistance. She was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital, but took a turn for the worse and was transferred to Cork, where she passed away on Sunday evening.
Daughter of Annette and Tom Cummins, she is survived by her sisters Rebecca, Sinead and Blathnaid, her grandparents, relatives and many friends. She was buried in St Michael’s Cemetery, Tipperary on Thursday morning following Requiem Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cappawhite.
