Town Council Condemns North Murder
NENAGH Town Council will write to the Northern Ireland Prison Service and the Northern Assembly to express their sympathy and condemnation of the murder of Northern Ireland prison officer David Black.
Mr Black was murdered while en route to his place of work in Armagh on November 1.
Councillors Virginia O’Dowd, Labour, and Conor Delaney, Fine Gael, raised motions that were unanimously supported by their colleagues at the November meeting of Nenagh Town Council.
Cllr O’Dowd described those responsible for the murder of Mr Black was “cowards in the extreme”, while Independent Councillor Hughie McGrath said that prison guards “are the people who protect us and they are on the front line of justice in Ireland”.
“Nobody wants to see this country dragged back to the dark ages of the 80s and 90s,” insisted Sinn Féin’s Cllr Séamus Morris.
“It doesn’t matter what way these clowns rebrand themselves,” Cllr Delaney said, before indicating that “there is only one police force”.
