Tipp Students Prepare To Enter ECO-Den
Tipperary students from Presentation Secondary School Thurles and St. Thomas the Apostle National School, are preparing to face the judges in ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards ECO-Dens next Friday 8th in the Lifetime Lab, Cork.
The Tipperary students will each have to convince a panel of expert judges including Elaine Nevin (ECO-UNESCO); Eilish O Boyle (Cork City Council) Roisín Dylan (Waste Matchers), Ann Sullivan (Waterford County Council) Helen Keays (Limerick County Council), that their project deserves a spot at the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards 2013 Gala Showcase and Awards Ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House on Wednesday 22nd May.
As an all island initiative, ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards rewards and recognises the work of young people in environmental protection through local environmental action projects. This year the programme has been receiving hundreds of applications from schools and youth groups from both the Republic and Northern Ireland over the past few weeks. The Munster ECO-Den is just the first of four regional finals.
