Tipp In Line For Massive Economic Boost?
Tipperary could be in line for a massive economic boost, with sixteen multi-million Euro key infrastructural projects in the pipeline to be funded, if the Government manages to secure an EU stimulus package, The Tipperary Star can reveal this week
The essential projects, which include the likes of the Thurles and Newport Regional Water Scheme, by-passes in Clonmel, Carrick on Suir, Roscrea and Thurles, an up-grade to the Cork- Dublin rail line passing through Tipperary, and a whole series of water services improvements including conservation mechanisms, have been put forward to Government by the Construction Industry Federation as part of the national plan to get Ireland back to work. In the process they would provide key infrastructure which will help further develop the country at large.
While over reliance on the construction boom might well have been blamed as one of the main causes to the country’s massive bank difficulties, the type of infrastructural projects identified by the CIF are of the essential variety and nothing to do with speculation. These proposals have been in the public domain for some time and the CIF are now pressing Government to put them forward as part of the stimulus package in a bid to get the thousands of Tipperary workers, made redundant by the collapse of the building trade, back to work.
