Thurles Ursulines to Celebrate 225 Years New School Extension to be Opened
By Noel Dundon
Friday next October 5th will be a real red letter day for the Ursuline Sisters in Thurles, as, not only will a fabulous new extension be opened at the secondary school, but 225 years of existence in the Cathedral Town will also be celebrated.
A special Mass of celebration and thanksgiving is planned for the Cathedral of the Assumption on the day at 12:30pm and the festivities will kick on afterwards at the Secondary School where the ribbon will be cut and a blessing called down upon the state-of-the-art extension which has been in use for some months now. The Sr Ursula Memorial Hall will host the celebrations which have been in the planning for some time and which will involve the whole school and Ursuline community. Preparations are underway in the secondary school to ensure that the Mass, which will have Archbishop Dermot Clifford, Archbishop of Cashel and Emly as Chief Celebrant, will indeed be very special with the Cecilian Choir and orchestra due to perform. The theme of the Mass is ‘Have Faith in God, God Has Faith in You.’
