Thurles Halloween Festival A Huge Success
The 5th annual Thurles Halloween Arts Festival turned out to be an overwhelming success with large crowds attending the 7 day event culminating in a huge fireworks display on Halloween night at the Rugby Club Grounds.
This community based festival for the town was once again organised by Councillors Jim Ryan and David Doran and certainly proved a worthwhile project with the Gardai reporting no major disturbances on the night in the town which was in stark contrast to other towns and cities around the country. In a statement to this weeks Tipperary Star both councillors expressed their delight and thrill that the festival turned out to be such a great success and stated that their intention of providing a safe nights entertainment for the young children of the town came through.
A crowd in excess of 1600 attended on Halloween night with numerous shows and events to keep everyone entertained. However there was no doubt that the 10 minute fire works display was the most impressive event on the night with a show that left everyone amazed and thrilled.
The event was organised over the last number of months by a small but extremely active committee made up of Cllr. Jim Ryan, Cllr. David Doran, Ellen Dunican, Charles Martin, TJ Shelly and Pat Dunican . A lot of work went into organising the festival and the committee would like to thank all their sponsors and volunteers who participated over the 7 days looking after crowd control, traffic management and security. The event was a complete success and the intention is to have a bigger and better festival next year. The various venues were ideal and great credit must go to everyone who provided their facilities over the week. The committee would like to also thank the general public who contributed so generously to the their fundraising events along with all their sponsors especially North Tipperary Leader Partnership, The Arts Council and Thurles Town Council without which the festival would not of happened.
