The Irish Countrywomen’s Association is flourishing in North Tipperary, with 17 Guilds and increasing membership.

It caters for all tastes and interests and actively engages in matters of public concern, ensuring that the views of the members are conveyed to the appropriate authority. On the local front, entertainment and education are the main focus. Guilds like Templemore organise trips to various European destinations, while the Clonakenny Guild has participated in computer courses to update members’ skills.

Ballinaclough have published a book on “Historic Ballinaclough” and Thurles have overnighted in Limerick, celebrating the Christmas Party Season. Cloughjordan marked their 50th Anniversary with “Songs of Yesteryear“ in the local Parish Hall.

Roscrea Guild have cooperated with the local Lions Club to launch the “Message in a Bottle“ Project. Almost all Guilds hold a Christmas Dinner, as well as attending the annual Federation Christmas Party, which this year is being held in the Thatched Cottage,Ballycommon, Nenagh, on December 17th. The ICA year ends with the Annual Dinner for members and friends.
