Templemore Town Improvements

Dear Sir,

I was most interested in items discussed recently by councillors with reference to improvements to Templemore town.

The idea of forming a committee to regularly look after graves was a good idea. One must bear in mind that looking after our loved ones who have passed away is our responsibility too. It is not too difficult to clean the graves up a little. You need to take care so as not to damage inscriptions. Have to hand a bottle of diluted chlorine bleach, 300 parts of bleach to 700 parts of water, Rubber gloves, a cloth to mop up, secateurs to cut the plant overgrowth, spray the bleach and wait 30 minutes then rinse spray with clear water, do not rub as you may damage the lettering. Worry not if the stone is not perfectly clean, after all it is to be able to read the inscription is all you need. Hope that helps.

With regard to making toilets available in the town, lease may be less expensive. A quote in the U K mentions a cost of 16,000 a year lease plus 10,000 a year for servicing.

In those times cost is so terribly important, but all in all, Templemore needs to have these modern facilities available if we are to attract visitors, and relatives .

Yours sincerely,
