Templemore Website to Launch on August 6th

Templemore Local Heroes initiative is launching the new look templemore.ie website on 6th August. The website is currently being updated and the website team are looking for any businesses, clubs or organisations in Templemore to e-mail them with up-to-date contact information and a description of your services/activities to siobhan@obriennetwork.com.

Siobhan Keating, who teaches web design (FETAC levels 5&6) in Templemore College of Further Education (www.tcfe.ie), is the main site designer and says: “As part of their work experience programme, an enthusiastic group of my students helped out with the transfer of the business listing data from the old site. Some of this data is very much out of date, so we would invite all businesses to send us their current contact details and company profile via the contact form on the website.”

The ‘Local Heroes - A Town Fights Back’ initiative started in February, following the example of the RTE show which featured towns like Drogheda and Limerick.

The show is all about taking your economic future into your own hands and starting the fight-back for jobs, which is what the local people pf Templemore are trying to do.

The control of the templemore.ie website was passed over to the Local Heroes last week and it is in the process of finalising its content and design.

Ms Keating added: “We would also very much encourage all residents of Templemore to submit their news, photos, details of upcoming events, etc. We plan to add, in the near future, a noticeboard where you can advertise local jobs and vacancies, or indeed your availability for a job, or even items for sale. On the new site, you can register as a user and post comments on articles or photos submitted by others, so we have a great opportunity to create our own online community - with a Templemore focus, of course.”

The ultimate goal is to have a highly interactive website that will be a central resource for community information. A secondary goal is that it will also be a showcase for the town’s many attractions and facilities. It will hopefully play a part in attracting tourists and generating new business in the town and surrounding areas.
