RUMOURS that a convicted rapist is living in and around the area of Cashel, were dismissed by local Gardaí this week.

A spokesperson for Cashel Gardaí said there was “no truth” to rumours circulating locally that Larry Murphy - who was convicted of rape and attempted murder in relation to the abduction of a young Carlow woman in 2001 - was reportedly spotted by locals in Bansha, and doing his shopping in Cashel during the week. Local Gardaí said Murphy (46) is not in the country, and there was no basis to the claims.
