School Choirs to Sing for Peace

A School Choir Contest with a theme of peace is being staged for the very first time in Tipperary Town on Sunday next, December 2nd. This inaugural event is being organised by Tipperary Peace Convention with the aim of promoting and fostering the concept of peace, through music and song, at primary school level. Five schools from County Tipperary and County Limerick will ‘sing it out’ for the title of School Peace Choir 2012. Each choir will perform three songs which may be either cover versions or originals but must have a theme of peace. The Contest will be staged (by kind permission) in St. Joseph’s Primary School Hall, Tipperary Town and will commence at 3pm on December 2nd.

Tipperary Peace Convention are hoping that this year’s event will be the start of a major national School Peace Choir contest and intend to open the competition up to all Primary Schools in the country next year. All are welcome to attend the Contest on Sunday and admission is €5.

The School Choirs taking part in the Contest are: St. Joseph’s Primary School, Tipperary Town St. John the Baptist Girls School, Cashel Moycarkey National School Scoil na Maighne, Moyne, Thurles Monaleen N.S., Castletroy, Limerick
