Sars’ Gave Thurles a Huge Lift -Mayor

The Mayor of Thurles, Cllr Michael Cleary, joined with members of the Town Council in heartily congratulating Thurles Sarsfields on winning the Munster senior hurling club final recently, for the first time ever.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of the council, after Cllr John Kennedy had led the vote of congratulations, Mayor Cleary said that it was a fantastic achievement for the club and one they should be very proud of.

Cllr Kennedy had paid tribute to the team, the management and the club officers and his words were echoed by Cllr David Doran who was thrilled to see the whole town getting the club. Cllr Jim Ryan described the win as a magnificent victory while Cllrs Evelyn Nevin, Ger Fogarty, Noel O’Dwyer and Michael Grogan were thrilled to see the club achieving such a magnificent goal.

Cllr John Kenehan congratulated fellow Moyne Road man Pa Bourke on picking up the Man of the Match Award and said that the many hours spent honing his skills in Moyne Road had paid off. “He has developed into a magnificent hurler and we are very proud of him and all the squad,” Cllr Kenehan said.
