Roscrea Hurling

County Champions

Roscrea 3-12 Cahir 0-7. County Tipperary Junior B Championship Final Result. What a game! Before the sliothar was even thrown in we had controversy when full forward Jim McDonnell was yellow carded with the Cahir full back, then they were both red carded! All before the game even started. When the game did eventually begin we went 0-3 up before Cahir came back with a free. Sam Conlon went off on yet another one of his trademark runs sent the pass into the legend that is Conor Egan who scored the first goal of the game. Conor scored 1-3 in the first half, Sam 0-3 and wing back Michael Campion got in on the act too. Paul Kirwan won a free in midfield, Michael made a run, Paul sent the ball into space in front of him, Michael rose it and struck in the same movement to score a point from play....not bad from a wing back!!! We went in 1-7 to 0-5 up at half time with Cahir having scored only 1 point from play. In the second half Cahir came out and scored 2pts straight away before we answered with a long range goal from Paul Kirwan. He struck from just after the half way line, the sliothar dipped into the back of the net....goal. Daryl Ryan did his Brendan Cummins impression and scored a point from a long range free from well inside his own half. He was swiftly followed by Pat Sips Fitzgerald and Sam Conlon. We were 10pts up when our substitutes got in on the act with a point from Colm Monaghan and a goal from Darragh Fletcher. Darragh tackled the Cahir goalkeeper, won the sliothar and hit it into the back of the net. The stand in Littleton must’ve been shaking with the roar that went up from the Roscrea supporters. While Daryl Ryan wasn’t really troubled by the Cahir forwards, his puck outs were essential to our attack.
