Roscrea Hammer Clane

Leinster League

Division 2 A

Roscrea continued their good from with a comprehensive win over a Clane side that on the day were no match but never stopped trying. In all Roscrea scored ten tries and it must be one of their biggest wins ever.

The Roscrea backs were in excellent form with their running and passing and really they should have scored more. The backs cannot function without a good supply of ball from the forwards and they got plenty of ball last Sunday from a pack who were dominant in the scrum, lineout and loose.

David Carney fielded the Clane drop off and immediately put Roscrea on the attack with a great run over the half way line. Clane entered into the spirit of things and ran the ball back but two great tackles from Malachy Maher and David Carney stopped the attack. Roscrea got into the Clane 22 and M. Maher got the ball from a ruck and fed Denis Moloney who made good ground before off-loading to Malachy Maher who dived over for the opening score. Brendan Teehan added the extra points.
