Public Meeting Called on Thurles Hospital

By Noel Dundon

A public meeting is to be held in Thurles on Thursday next October 4th in the Tipperary Institute in a bid to kick start the campaign to have the 22 respite beds restored to the Thurles Community Hospital of the Assumpion, The Tipperary Star can reveal.

The specially formed Action Group has taken the decision in the wake of Health Minister James O’Reilly’s supposed amnesia - the Fine Gael Minister apparently has no recollection of making a promise to a room full of people at a deputation back in November, to have the beds restored before the end of January last. Curiously, each one of those public representatives present at the meeting heard him make it.

In a statement to The Tipperary Star this week, the Action Committee pledged to continue to highlight the situation and with a view to achieving their demands.
