Newport Estate Talks Sought

NORTH Tipperary County Council has been urged to contact the developer of Mulcair Manor in Newport to “regularise” the estate. “We have to get that into some legal shape,” Cllr John “Rocky” McGrath told Newport area councillors.

“Residents need to know that the council can’t legally touch it,” said the Independent councillor.

He was supported by Fianna Fail’s Cllr Mattie Ryan “Coole”.

Cllr McGrath also asked that the council leave one outdoor staff member in Newport one day a week to help keep the town clean.

“The staff have done a great job. The streets are being cleaned. It is wonderful to see,” he said, urging that a member remain to ensure the town looked good during The Gathering.
