Nenagh To Get Broadband Update
NENAGH town councillors have been told by town manager Marcus O’Connor that eircom has commenced works which would see a “next generation broadband” service installed in the town.
“Speeds are eight megabytes per second at the moment and eircom are preparing to upgrade to 70 megabytes per second,” Mr O’Connor revealed.
Cllr Conor Delaney said that the development should be “welcomed from a consumer and business point of view”, before indicating that “footpaths should be returned to the condition that they were found in”. Town engineer Peter Fee said there would be a “tight control on that”,.
Cllr Tom Moylan said that the development of such a broadband service would be of “huge benefit” to Nenagh. “We have been waiting a long time for a proper broadband system.”
“Broadband speeds in Nenagh are disgraceful in comparison to what we should have,” Cllr Séamus Morris added.
