Nenagh Councillor’s Call To Extend Sewerage System

Nenagh town councillor Conor Delaney, Fine Gael, has asked that Nenagh Town Council carry out a feasibility study on the possibility of having the town sewers extended to Benedine.
At February’s council meeting Cllr Delaney was told by the council executive that any extension of the town sewers to Benedine would be a “major job” due to difficulties with train tracks and the laying of lengthy pipelines to connect with the existing sewer network at Ballygraigue.
“I am now calling on the executive to carry out a feasibility study to determine exactly what costs would be involved in this operation and to make the results known to the residents of Benedine. Let’s see exactly how much this major job is going to cost and then make an informed decision on the matter instead of discounting it immediately.”
Cllr Delaney also appealed to eircom to extend the laying of cables for high speed broadband to Benedine. “I have spoken to residents who have informed me that ducts were laid in the past and it would make no sense whatsoever for Eircom to stop their work at the railway bridge when the work they need to do in Benedine has already been done for them at no additional cost.”
