McGrath calls for Slurry Spreading to be weather related

South Tipperary Independent TD Mattie McGrath has called on the Minister for Agriculture and the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government and to provide a further extension to the Slurry Spreading deadline due to the inclement weather and to introduce changes to the Nitrate regulations to ensure that Slurry Spreading is weather related rather than calendar related.

“The current situation of farming by calendar is crazy, We need to make changes to the Nitrates regulations to allow farmers spread slurry when the weather allows and not when the calendar states as the unpredictability of the weather is putting farmers in an impossible situation of trying to meet deadlines when the weather has been against them” continued McGrath
