Laura to Travel to Germany for Rare Disease Treatment

Laura Cleary, 24, from Archerstown, Thurles was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease. Laura now has to travel to Germany on September 10th for treatment as there are no facilities within the Irish health system to treat her.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transferred from a tick bite. Laura has had the disease for two years but was only recently diagnosed as the symptoms are similar to that of Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Parkinson’s disease and not widely recognised in Ireland. See next weeks Tipperary Star for full details.
