Lakeside Pitch And Putt

The first round of the Spring League took place in Riverdale last Sunday with 22 Lakeside players making up the total of 74.

Club Captain Michael led by example returning a fine score of 12 under par. He was closely followed in 2nd place by Paul O Brien on -11, Ronan Loughnane on -10 and Seamus Ryan on -6. Our two new Seniors - Patrick Kennedy and Brian Cahill - endured a difficult day as it will take time to adjust to life in the big League. Hang in there lads. Ian Delahunty was in great form in the Inter Grade returning a score of -7. Good to see Dela back after his year in Tasmania. Chairman Mao came in 2nd on -2 with Michael Bourke in 3rd on -1. In the Junior Grade Mary Quinn put all the boys to shame by claiming top spot with a brilliant score of -5. Mary’s game has improved greatly since receiving putting coaching from the P.R.O. Martin McCormack claimed the final spot of the day with a -1. Our Seniors were only beaten by 4 shots while our Juniors matched the best on show. Early to bed for our Inters on Sat night!!! Round 2 takes place in Clonmel next Sunday with Lakeside on the tee at 12.30pm.

The club has undertaken to record the clubs history and the plan is to launch the book mid 2015 to coincide with the clubs 50th anniversary. Please contact Ronan Loughnane if you have any pictures, memorabilia or anything associated with the club down through the years. Hop up to your attic and see what you’ve got.
