North Tipp Junior Hurling Championship

Roscrea 2-14 Toomevara 0-9. In what was a very sporting game Roscrea emerged victorious to progress to the North Final. In the first half there was nothing between the two teams with Toomevara capitalising on their chances missing only two frees whilst we had eight wides. We started the second half 1-6 to Toom’s 0-6pts, the goal in the first half coming from Jim McDonnell who was unlucky not to have his second allowed.

With some great defending from Man of the Match Michael Kiely, Toome only scored 3pts in the second half, one of which was a free while Roscrea went on to socre 1-8 bringing the final tally to 2-14 to 0-9. Captain James Maher scored 0-7, Jim McDonnell 1-3, Paul Kirwan 1-0, Roddy Teehan 0-2, Sam Conlon 0-1 and not to be outdone, half-back Michael Campion got in on the act and scored 0-1. Our goalkeeper Daryl Ryan’s free hit the back of the net only to be disallowed for a square ball. Paddy Kiely was unlucky not to score. Some good performances from Paul Breen, Shane Davis, Aaron Ryan, Colm Ryan and Roddy Teehan.

Team: Daryl Ryan, Michael Kiely, Paul Breen, Shane Davis, Michael Campion, Aaron Ryan, Colm Ryan, Roddy Teehan, Paul Kirwan, Ruairi O’Connor, James Maher (Cpt), Alan Conlon, Paddy Kiely, Jim McDonnell, Sam Conlon. Subs Conor Egan for Alan Conlon, Pat Fitzgerald for Paddy Kiely, John Ryan for Ruairi O’Connor and Brian Dooley for Michael Kiely.
