Gardai Hit the Trail for Diabetes 120km Trek Completed in Fundraiser

On the 3rd of August Gardai from Thurles took part in the 100+ Adventure Trek in aid of Diabetes Ireland.

This trek consisted of approximately 90km cycling and 30km trail running / trekking. They set off from Thurles and headed to Upperchurch, where they completed the Eamonn O Chnoic loop. They then cycled on to Doonane where they took on the Keeper Hill trek. Following on from this they cycled through Ballina and onto the Graves of the Leinster Men and the Millenium Cross, where a 10km loop was completed before heading for Dromineer and the completion of the trek.

The motivation behind this trek was two-fold. Firstly to raise awareness in relation to Diabetes and specifically Type 1 Diabetes, and secondly to raise funds for Diabetes Ireland. See this weeks Tipperary Star for full story.
