Galtee Walking Club

There were no club walks on Sunday last but the Upperchurch Walking Festival attracted several members who enjoyed the wide variety of walks in that beautiful area as well as the excellent hospitality afterwards.

The break in the schedule provides an opportunity to mention the Galtee Walking Club Christmas Party which takes place at Ballykisteen Hotel on Friday, December 7, starting at 8:30pm. Breda Ryan has arranged a special evening which includes a four course meal and music provided by multi-talented club member, Conor Ryan. The event takes place in the Ballyk Suite at the hotel, a private function room which will allow a more relaxed atmosphere where members can meet others they might not regularly encounter on the Sunday walks. To book a place or get more information contact Breda on 086 3946048 or call in to her at Costigan’s Pharmacy, Main Street, Tipperary. The price is E35 per person.

There is only one club walk on Sunday next. Brendan Sheils leads a 4 hour loop in the Galtees meeting at the Galtee Castle Car Park at 10am. A reminder also that a new series of Tracks and Trails starts on RTE1 television this Friday evening at 8:30pm. Among the areas featured are part of St. Declan’s Way near Ardmore and The Barrow Way around Graiguenamanagh and St Mullins, a walk familiar to many Galtee club members.
