Fundraiser for paediatric resuscitator

A fundraising morning will take place next Saturday 16th March at Thurles Farmers Market, to help raise money to buy a Paediatric Resuscitator for the Paediatric Unit in Clonmel General Hospital. This initiative to procure this essential machine, comes from the nursing staff in the Hospital.

The Resuscitator is a necessity in a Paediatric Unit. It can play a major role in the recovery of young patients.

The Paediatric Unit has 17 beds and cares for children from newborn up to 16 years with a wide variety of illnesses. On the ward, there is a Paediatric Emergency Room, in which all the children who attend South Tipperary General Hospital are seen, except trauma cases, who attend the main Emergency Department. The Unit also runs a Day Ward from 9am to 2pm, 5 days a week. The Unit provides shared care with Crumlin Children’s Hospital and Temple St., Children’s Hospital. This saves Oncology and Cardiac patients from having to travel to Dublin for treatment that can be provided locally, and saves on disruption to family life.

The Farmers Market will provide teas and coffee, etc. to all who attend, on Saturday morning next, in their marquee and encourage you to make a small contribution to this worthy cause. Following on from next Saturdays’ event, the local Vintage Clubs, in combination, are holding a Vintage Rally in Dualla on Sunday 24th March at 12pm as an associated fund raising effort. It is expected that this will be a very big event.
