Don’t Forget - Eamon An Chnoic Show In Upperchurch

Due to public demand there will be an additional performance of the play Eamon an Chnoic tomorrow night Thursday, January 3rd in Upperchurch starting at 8.30pm. The completely new period drama played to full houses at the weekend and has been widely praised.

The play does not easily fall in to any neat category is an enchanting mix of comedy and tragedy, music and song, love and hate, loyalty and betrayal, terror and suspense. All of the cast are local and the play is directed by Mary C. Ryan and Mary O’Malley.

The play is set in the late 17th century and is based on the life and times of the famous raparee, Ned of the Hill and his equally famous companion Galloping Hogan. Other historical characters in the play include Patrick Sarsfield, Maude of Dundrum, Reuben Lee who was a local miller, High Sheriff Stanley and Colonel Edward Villiers who was in charge of the English at Ballyneety and whose sister was the mistress of King William of Orange.

There is a cast of over twenty, several songs and accompanying music supplied by a small orchestra of youthful local talent. Many patrons have asked to see the show again and this final repeat showing is a great opportunity for those who may have missed out over the holiday period. Tickets will be available at the door or may be booked at 087 6158937. DVD recordings will also be on sale from this weekend.
