NENAGH town councillor Conor Delaney has welcomed the announcement by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport that an allocation of E100,000 has been made available to North Tipperary County to complete works at Benedine.

“I am delighted that funding has now been made available under the 2013 Regional and Local Roads Allocations under the heading of Specific Improvements Scheme to complete works at Benedine that started nearly three years ago. Both I and a number of my colleagues have continued to keep this item on the agenda and it’s nice to see our hard work finally paying off,” said the FG councillor.

Whilst welcoming the funding, Cllr Delaney stated that the work now had to be done and called on North Tipperary to prioritise the issue.

“The people of Benedine have had to wake up every day for nearly three years to witness the terrible state of their road and I now call on the county council engineer and his team to prioritise this work and to liaise directly with residents to ensure that all improvements are finalised while the funding is available,” he said.

Cllr Delaney also welcomed funding for Richmond Cross, Rathnaleen Cross and Grallagh under the 2013 Low Cost Safety Improvement Works on Regional and Local Roads.
