Darragh’s Diploma
A young Roscrea musician has gained a unique achievement by securing a Diploma in Irish Traditional Music in the recent exams conducted by the London College of Music. Darragh Carey-Kennedy from Roscrea is thrilled by his success and he believes that he is the youngest graduate ever to have achieved this honour.
Darragh is now entitled to use the letters Dip.LCM after his name. He was introduced to the LCM Syllabus just over two years ago by Jacquie O’Connor, who was a teacher in Corville NS. After progressing through the exam structure Darragh sat his exam early in December of last year and received news of his results just before Christmas.
The London College of Music is acknowledged as being one of the leading tutorial and examination centers worldwide. Darragh, who just turned 14 at the end of November, is a second year student in Colaiste Phobal Ros Cre and is past student of Scoil Iosef Naofa Corville.
