Creedon Not Ruling Out Promotion Yet

Tipperary Manager Peter Creedon has not yet ruled out a push for promotion for his charges and says that it is still within their reach.

The Cork native had watched his side put London to the sword and was thrilled to finally get points on the board after a poor start to the league campaign. And, with 10 points required to be in with a chance of making it division 3, Creedon is under no illusions as to the kind of challenge facing his men.

“We needed that win because the last two performances were difficult. Today was a lot better – not perfect by any means, but better all the same. We worked hard, had more composure and we kicked 2-12 which is a decent showing. London are a decent side and could have pipped Carlow in the last round. We got a good bit of coaching in over the last two weeks and the lads have been brilliant – the senior players in particular have been very good. We are missing 5/6 very good players so this is a good win which will help to get us going,” he said after his side had warmed down on the pitch in Semple Stadium after the clash.

And, asked about the promotion push, Creedon was hopeful of getting a run together which could take them to the magic 10 points mark.

“We hope to get a good performance against Clare and you’d never know what might happen after that. Clare were in the Munster Final last year and are a very decent side. But, if we get 10 points we have a great chance – we have two now, so only eight to go. When we get the injured players back too it help make us stronger,” Peter said.

However, the Manager revealed that Tipperary are trying to serve two masters at the present time when the seniors and u-21’s working together. And, with the u-21’s playing Waterford on Wednesday evening next in the championship first round, an attempt to rest players has been on the agenda.

“We have a dual purpose with the U-21’s and we are trying to manage two teams, which I’m not too sure how it is working. But, that’s the road we are going for the time being anyway,” Peter said.
