Coonan Welcomes Aspects Of HSE Plan
Deputy Noel Coonan has welcomed confirmation given in the newly published 2013 HSE Service Plan that the budget levels for Home Care Packages/Home Help has been set at the 2012 level, without cuts. “It is also positive news that the CEO of the HSE Tony O’Brien will be fast tracking the appointment a wide range of health professionals in the areas of Mental Health and Primary Care,” said the local Fine Gael TD.
“We expect local concerns to be addressed in the regional service plan which is anticipated to be published in the coming weeks. From quarter one of 2013 a targeted recruitment campaign will be mounted by the HSE to fill hundreds of posts in Mental Health and Primary Care. This is a welcome development after the failure of the previous Government to fill posts in the boom years. The development will allow for a strengthening of mental health care for citizens and a significant roll out of Primary Care Teams across the country including in County Tipperary.
“Among the many changes during the course of this year outlined in the plan will be the roll out of hospital groups allied to the Smaller Hospitals Framework. This development will allow for distinct improvements in the management of hospitals to better suit the needs of patients in a more strategic way across the country,” concluded Deputy Coonan.
