Cloughjordan Community Farm
Cloughjordan Community Farm, Ireland’s first and largest community owned farm, is hosting a fundraising event in Cloughjordan House tomorrow Saturday 23rd February. The event, which starts at 10pm and costs E10/12, will feature a first time performance in the midlands by Dub Investigation.
Dub Investigation are a 5 piece multi national reggae band, from Nigeria, Suriname and Ireland, based in Dublin.They perform at many of Ireland’s biggest and best festivals, such as Electric Picnic, Body and Soul and the Festival of the Fires. The group recently released their third album – Sound Systematic – to rave reviews.
Dub Investigation will be joined on the night by fellow festival stalwarts Pressure Drop - a pair of DJs with a sound system who play all manner of party reggae, from the earliest days of ska right up to the dubstep offshoots of tomorrow. Pressure Drop’s biggest claim to fame is their support of the Wailers (yes, that’s the Wailers from Bob Marley and the Wailers).
The show will feature a purpose built proudly analogue sound system called the Boilerhouse.
This event is part of a weekend of community food events in Cloughjordan, starting today, Friday 22nd (smallholders event) and continuing 22nd and 23rd, with an innovative and participatory conference that explores co-operative approaches to food. This conference will be held in the new WeCreate enterprise centre in Cloughjordan’s Ecovillage quarter.
Cloughjordan Community farm is provides vegetables, meat and milk to over 60 families in the town and environs, who own the farm through their membership.
