Bothar asks supporters to put eggs in one basket

Bóthar has launched its Easter appeal, asking people to play a part in rebuilding lives in some of the most deprived regions of the world through the gift of food and income producing flock of chickens. The Irish International Development Agency, is training families in how to care for flocks of chickens and providing them with the birds as well as free veterinary back-up, in communities across Africa, Asia and South America.

A donation of €190 will purchase an entire flock of chickens or alternatively donors can purchase a share of a flock for just €50.

Donations also cover training and preparation for families receiving chickens, as well as transportation and full veterinary back up for a number of years for the families caring for the chickens.

Said Bóthar Chief Executive Dave Moloney: “Easter is a key time in terms of giving, probably the single most generous time of the year after Christmas. For €50 people can make a huge difference to the lives of some of the poorest people of the world this Easter and that’s a reason to put all your eggs in one basket.”

On hand to help Bóthar launch the Easter appeal was broadcaster and singer Leanne Moore, who is a backing singer for Ryan Dolan in the upcoming Eurovision in what is her third year in a row to perform at the song contest.
