Press Release: Deputy Mattie McGrath will raise concerns with the Office of Public Works and South Tipperary County Council Officials in relation to the ongoing Flood Relief Scheme in Clonmel and continuing development of flood plains and the effect that it will have on villages and towns upstream on the River Suir following the recent flood threats.

Deputy McGrath wishes to compliment Mr. Walter Doheny and Council Staff for their help and assistance supplying sand bags and helping residents during the recent flood threats.

Ardfinnan Anglers Club: The Annual General Meeting of the above Club will be held in the Community Hall, Ardfinnan on Thursday February 7th at 8.30 pm. All members and intending members are earnestly requested to attend.

Sympathy: We were sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Breda Parker, Newbridge, Co. Kildare (nee Roche, Skheen, Mitchelstown) on Monday, January 21st. We offer our deepest sympathy to her husband, former Army Chief of Staff, Jimmy Parker and family, to her brother in law, Tom Parker, wife Nelly and family, New Inn and all other relatives friends and neighbours and especially to her nephew in law and Ardfinnan Postman Tom Parker, wife Nora and family. Removal was to Cuillmhuire church, Newbridge on Tuesday evening and burial was in the local Cemetery on Wednesday. May she rest in peace.

Ardfinnan GAA: Under 21s

The Under 21 football panel continued its preparation for this year’s championship with a challenge match against Ballyporeen last Saturday. It was a very good workout and the management hope to have more challenge matches in the coming weeks. Training sessions are on every Wednesday night at 7.30pm and Friday nights at 8 pm in the football field. With the championship starting next month it’s important that players attend training.

Juvenile Notes: Training has commenced for the Under 12 and Under 14 panels for the upcoming year. Training sessions will be held in the football field on Saturdays starting at 12 o’ clock sharp. The Under 16 panel has also commenced training with sessions starting at 11 o’clock on Sundays in the football field. All are very welcome.

Remembrance Mass: A remembrance mass for all deceased members of Ardfinnan football club will be held on 9th February at 7.30pm in Ardfinnan church. We hope for a good attendance for this special mass.

Easter Draw: The Club are holding an Easter Draw on Friday 21st March. Players and members will be selling lines at €2 per line over the coming weeks.

1st Prize: Easter Hamper, 2nd Price: Dinner Voucher, 3rd Prize: Meat Voucher and 4th Prize: Easter Egg.

All support would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Gleann Ard who received their County Medals recently and on their success of 2007.

The next County Board Lotto draw will take place on Monday 4th February. Lotto tickets are on sale from Club members, €2 per ticket or €20 for 12 months.

Training: All County teams are back training in preparation for the upcoming Championships. Ardfinnan are well represented in all teams. Best of luck to the girls and management for 2008.

Tipperary Intermediate team play their first game of the Suzuki National League on Sunday 17th February against Longford at a home venue.

The other 3 teams in the group are Donegal, Fermanagh and Down. After reaching the National League Semi-Final last year Tipp will be hoping to

continue their success of last year.

A Celebration banquet will take place in Slievenamon Golf Club on Saturday 2nd February to present Munster Medals to the Minor and Intermediate Champions of 2007.
