Anger at Drish Bridge Traffic Delays
Thurles area members of North Tipperary county Council expressed anger at the traffic arrangements at Drish Bridge while rehabilitation works are being carried out on the bridge on the Two Mile Borris Road.
Cllrs Jim Ryan, Seamus Hanafin and John Kennedy raised the issue at a meeting of the area committee and said that the time delays were huge with the intervals on the temporary traffic totally out of sync. Cllrs Billy Clancy and Micheal Lowry also contributed to the debate and called for action to be taken with the lights.
Area Engineer Mr Ruairi Boland promised to look into the problem and informed members that the works would take a few weeks to complete due to a techicality with the pre-cast materials used.
Meanwhile, Cllr Seamus Hanafin, although critical of the delays at Drish Bridge, said that the work on the other two bridges in the Thurles area was carried out very efficiently and in a timely fashion. He complimented the council on this.
