Please call and visit Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre, Clongour Rd., Thurles during our Open Day on Wednesday July 30th from 4pm to 8pm.
We have recently refurbished the house and it now meets all health, safety, fire and disability requirements. We would love to show you around and explain to you the services we offer to anyone affected by cancer including their family or carer. Tea and finger food will be provided on the evening.
You will often see people fund raising for Suir Haven and North Tipperary Hospice, so let me tell you where the money goes. North Tipperary Hospice fund and manage two cancer support centres, Suir Haven in Thurles and Suaimhneas in Nenagh at a cost of approx, €60,000 each. They pay €130,000 yearly to Milford Hospice to provide a palliative home care service for people who would like to spend their final days in their own homes surrounded by their families and friends. North Tipp Hospice pays €150,000 for the hire and delivery of specialist equipment e.g. beds, mattresses to homes of patients at that end stage of life. So when you are contributing to Suir Haven/ North Tipperary, not only are you keeping our Cancer Support centres up and running, you are also facilitating end of life patients.
Our centre in Thurles provides a safe space for healing. We offer CounsellIng, Reflexology, Acupuncture, Massage etc., We also run Yoga, Art and Mindfulness classes. We also offer emotional support, practical help and information in a safe, positive and confidential environment. All these services are free of charge to our clients.
So, please come and say hello, we would love to meet you. This is not a fund raising event, we just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped us in the past and show you what a terrific service we provide. You might know someone who needs a haven to recover in.
