Stories for kids at Easter

A special ceremony to highlight the story of Easter will be held in Bohernanave Church on Good Friday morning at 11am. This is suited to children of Primary School age and all who are children at heart. Parents and guardians are very welcome. We would ask each child to bring along a small hand-made cross made of card or lolipop sticks and a palm branch from Palm Sunday.

There will be five parts to the story beginning with the Entry into Jerusalem, through to Holy Thursday, Good Friday and ending with the joy of the Resurrection. Each story will have its own art pictures to help the children visualise the setting. Between each story there will be a short two-line prayer and a sung refrain. The children will be asked to wave their palm branches as they sing. At the point of the story where Jesus dies on the cross children and then parents will be invited to place their small crosses at the foot of the large cross in the church sanctuary. The ceremony will end with the miming of the Our Father, a blessing and a short hymn. This ritual will cover the Easter story in a child friendly way. Children of all ages are invited along!
