St Mary’s Cemetery Works Welcomed

Improvement works carried out at St Mary’s Cemetery by members of the outdoor staff of Thurles Town Council have been welcomed by Councillor David Doran this week.

The Sinn Fein Councillor told council colleagues at the monthly meeting that the work has greatly enhanced the area and had made a really great impression.

“There are a lot of people buried in the cemetery there and I regard it as a great public service to have undertaken this work and to have done such a great job. It really makes a big difference and I compliment the workers for their efforts,” Cllr Doran said.

He was supported in his comments by Cllr Noel O’Dwyer while Cllr Jim Ryan called for attention to be given to the footpaths on St Mary’s Avenue on the road up to the Church and cemetery. They are in need of repair as soon as possible he said.

Lights Out

Cllr John Kenehan reported lights out at Moyne Road, Ikerrin Road and Brittas Road.

Munster Hotel

Cllr Noel O’Dwyer once again called for the stagnant water to be pumped out of the basement of the Munster Hotel as it is very dangerous. He feared for the safety of people especially children in the area.
