St Cronan’s celebrates 40th anniversary

St. Cronan’s National School is celebrating 40 years in Rosemount following its move from Gaol Road in 1974. Many past pupils and friends of St. Cronan’s NS returned to celebrate this occasion at our Annual Fundraising Dance held in The County Arms, Birr on Feb. 1st.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Parents’ Association led by Mrs Sheila Blackwell and Mrs Lorinda Benn and all who were involved in making the night such a wonderful success. Special thanks to all our sponsors. On Sunday the pupils led an Ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving in St. Cronan’s Church. This was attended by pupils past and present, parents, friends, dignitaries and a number of Clergy. The congregation returned to the school following the service, where there was a display of photographs and work celebrating the past 40 years. It was wonderful to have past staff, Mrs Edith Rafter, Mrs June Dunne, Mrs Sandra Hayes, Mrs Siobhán Doorley and two former Principals Mrs Noeline Williams and Mrs Ethel Telford in attendance. Bishop Trevor unveiled a Commemorative Plaque made by the pupils from recycled tiles. We are now enrolling for Sept. 2014. Pease visit our school and find out what we can offer your child, or visit our website We will hold an Open Afternoon on Wednesday February 26th from 12 noon – 3pm.
